Sue has a BA (Hons) degree in Communication and Image Studies and a Certificate in Fine Art from Kent Institute of Art & Design.

She studied stone carving from 1992 to 2007 in Kent and at City & Guilds School of Art in London. In 2006 she was sponsored by the Heritage Lottery Fund to attend a Purbeck Marble workshop in Dorset.
